I heard Nephthytis can take really low light levels, it's a tropical vine that is often grown hanging out of pots.

I grow Philodendron cordatum (velvet leaf), Nepthytis (Arrowhead vine - mine is still small and stands up), Peace Lily, a tiny little fern, and Dracaena sanderiana (Lucky Bamboo) indoors in low-light areas. One of my dracaenas practically lives in the dark. I also have Pilea 'Silver Tree' but it's new and I don't know how well it will do yet.

Try the houseplant forum as well :)

A friend up the street gave me a huge Spathe (or is it
Spaeth?) Plant with gloriously shiny dark green leaves
and it sits in a large blue and white Chinese porcelain
pot (second hand store for $12) in my dining room. This
place is dark all day long--the house is shaded by 100 foot
tall oak trees and this part is particularly dark--even the
plants outside get about 10 minutes of filtered sun a day.

At this time, the plant is still magnificent and absolutely NO work--aside from watering it by soaking it once every
two weeks (Received it on Christmas of last year).

I highly recommend this as a survivor.

Aspidistra (Cast iron plant). Mine has sat in a basket on the floor in my dining room where it gets no direct light, has been happy many years. You can leave it in the dark, not fertilize, even forget to water and it's completely forgiving.

Here is a link that might be useful: examples Aspidistra

my peace lily is a great one since we have never been blessed with a place with south or west windows. And then there's always mushrooms...LOL

My split leaf philodendren is huge and pretty happy in a room with very little natural light. Snake plant also called Mother-in-law's tongue--Sansevieria trifasciata "Laurentii--grew happily for years for my mother in a dark room and she has a black thumb not just a brown one.
