| My caladiums are growing and are just gorgeous. I love them. I got bulbs from both Wal Mart and Spring Hill and they all are doing great. I don't think that I lost a single plant. I can't tell any difference in the plants so I will probably just buy from Wal Mart this year since Spring Hill does not have a great reputation.
Now, I am wondering what else might grow in the areas where the caladiums are. My two big pots of caladiums get very little direct sun and the ones on the porch get a couple of hours of sun and plenty of light. Any suggestions on what else I might try. I am also wondering what would be low growing to go under the caladiums? Also what can I plant in a very shady section of my yard? I am nuts about my backyard but it is mostly a shade area. How much sun do Astibles actually need? |

| I have these guys in shade: Bleeding heart (available in a very dwarf form from good nurseries) ferns (dozens of species) ivy (I'm partial to Algerian variegated ivy--all can become weedy though) Ajuga hosta (lots of varieties) Japanese forest grass (very distinctive--especially golden variety) Acuba jaonica--this one gets big Pieris japonica China Girl Holly Euonymous japonica Fatsia japonica Camelia japonica Rhododendron Rosea elegans Hydrengea |
