Garden around a signpost

Any suggestions for the best perennials to place around my new signpost? I need plants that take medium shade and are deer resistant. I would like a vine to climb up the post but clematis needs full sun. A balanced garden is my goal. Thanks!

There are clematis that take less than full sun and do nicely. Deer resistant I don't know about, but I recently planted around a neighbors mail box that sits on the side of our property. I planted three hosta,Sedum- Autumn joy,a bleeding heart, a day lily, perennial geranium and a burgenia. I was going for plants that will survive on the water nature provides.

What about Geranium Rozanne? It's not a vine, obviously.

Here is a link that might be useful: Geranium Rozanne
