Solomon's Seal (Polygonatum oderatum), especially the variegated form, could be beautiful there. Another choice might be Spiderwort (Tradescantia). Warning: this can be pretty aggressive. If the space isn't too dry, try Anemone robustissima or Astrantia major. Good luck, dry shade is a challenging situation.

Lamium - spotted dead nettle - pick a few & find out which you like better. I like all that we've grown & keep 'em spreading around as they root along the stems & root well as cuttings. I snip them back, remove lower leaves, & replant in loose soil to help fill out the edging. They do better in moist soil, but survive in dry as well. I have experimented a bit with both Silver Beacon & Aurea. Silver Beacon did fine under cedar tree with no supplemental water. Aurea didn't make it in the pot over winter under that same tree, but in the ground is doing great and in a large pot in the backyard where it received rain spread nicely.

I also have good results with bigroot geranium - G. macro... Once established it will grow in dry places, but does appreciate a bit of mulch & cut it back after late spring flowering for good foliage the rest of the growing season. It also has fall color & spreads well.

Both are easy pass along plants, so if you have a garden friend nearby you'll be able to get them for nothing.
