Can you identify this plant?

| I've had this shade plant for so long that I can't remember its name. I think that name starts with P, but am not positive about that. As you can see, the plant is variegated, grows at least a couple feet tall, and--if I recall correctly--produces "strings" of small red flowers later in the summer. If you can think you can identify it, please post your guess here. Thanks!

| Is it a type of Fallopia, maybe Devon Cream? |

| Wow, what a pretty plant! Can't help you though, as I've never seen it. But I will be watching to see if someone can ID it, because I'd like to try it myself! :) Dee |

| It looks like PERSICARIA virginiana 'Variegata' - wonderful plant that does well in the sun or shade, but does seed around a bit so there's always some to share with others. |

dlr2468, I think you're right. The name persicaria does sound familiar. And, yes, the plant does self-seed. I gave away a few of those seedlings, which is why I needed to find out for sure what they are. Thanks again! Audrey |

| How did you attach the picture to the message. I have been trying to do this also but don't know how. Thanks, Maria |

Maria, I loaded the photo onto my own web site and used HTML code to link to it. You can do the same by using a code something like the following: IMG SRC="http://www.website/photo.jpg" ALIGN="LEFT" Of course, instead of "website," you use whatever the name of your web site is. And, instead of "photo.jpg," you use whatever the file name of your photo is. Then you enclose the entire code between the < symbol and the > symbol. I couldn't actually do that here, or the code wouldn't show up at all. Hope this helps! Audrey |

I will have to get a website first since I have never had any. I was just trying to download a picture that I have saved in a file. Thanks, Maria |

| they look like green snakes with thin green spikes comming out of the sides all the way around, they grow on the oregon coastal eras and grow like weeds they took over my aunts whole yard, the tallest one was about 5 feet tall and have rings around each spurt of growth about 1/4 inch each growth, like bamboo would have the ring color is brown, plants are a light green color. |
