sick rhodie

I just noticed that a containerized rhodie "PJM" I planted earlier this spring has some serious wilt in the interior of the plant- the outside branches are fine, with new growth even, but the interior is toast. The soil has been evenly moist and the container gets about 3 hours of late afternoon and a bit of morning sun per day. Other plants in the same container are thriving.

Could this be the dreaded Sudden Oak Death disease. I bought the plant from Home Depot- something I don't usually do - but it was the right size and shape.

Should I get rid of it? Can it be saved?

Thanks for all your help.

cheers, happy 4th.....

mary
