Is sweet woodruff ok with my perennials?

Posted by vangard 8 (My Page) on

Hi,

I have just planted some sweet woodruff in my shade / part-shade border, however I wondered afterwards if it will cause any problems for my perennials when the come up next spring. Will the perennials have any difficulty popping up from under the ground cover or should I keep the sweet woodruff well away from their crowns? My perennials include arum lilies, cranesbill, japanese anenomes, hostas, astilbes, columbines, maidenhair ferns and lilies.

Thanks!

Catherine.

I have it planted in my beds and it hasn't caused any problems. It isn't that dense that it crowds out other plants.

I would agree - I don't think it would cause much of a problem for those plants. I have some of them interplanted with sweet woodruff and they all live happily together.
