Help - Falling over!

Hello,
After a great deal of research, I planted a shade garden this past spring. Until it was in, it never occurred to me to think about sprinkler placement so we had to go through this first year with only one sprinkler to the right of the entire garden. It did hit all the plants. HOwever, as the summer went on I noticed that almost all of my plants are leaning to the right. In addition, my daisies and sedum can't hold themselves upright, even before blooms came. Please help me! What did I do wrong, and how can I fix it for next year? ANY suggestion would be greatly appreciated! |

| It sounds like your plants are reaching for the light. Is it possible that the right side of your shade garden is the area where there is most sun? |

Some plants require sunlight or a very high light level for optimum development. Denied that, the stems will be thin and weak and the plant will grow taller. (Often referred to as, "spindly"). I'm guessing that is what is happening to yours. Flowering plants, including shrubs, will lean toward the source of maximum light. If shrubs and trees have large trunks, that prevent that orientation, they will only develop on the side receiving the most light exposure. Rb |
