mountain laurel in shade garden-to-be

Hello, all. When I moved to my property 3 years ago, my front yard was in half shade. Well, because of disease, my neighbor took down her oak and I took down my sugar maple. We have both planted new trees (she, an October Glory Red Maple--- can't wait for Oct--- and I, a river birch). Well, as you can imagine, these trees are only about 20 feet tall, so the current sun exposure in my front yard is full sun. However, I have planted shrubs and perennials that take shade, knowing that in a few years, my front yard will be in the shade again. My question is this: is the mountain laurel I planted going to HATE being in the full sun, until it can get some shade? Right now it's not so bad. I was thinking more about the dog days of high summer. Thanks for your responses.
