Shrub Ideas for Full Shade and Drought

Tim

I live in South Central Kansas where we get 100 degree temps and drought during the summer months and -10 degree temps in the winter.

I want to plant some foundation shrubs on the North side of my house where I have full shade with the environmental conditions listed above. I also have windows on that side of my house, which I don't want covered with a big, sprawling shrub. I am looking for shrubs with heights of no more than three feet and an equal or greater spread. I was considering Hydrangea 'Forever & Ever Blue Heaven', Hydrangea 'Bluebird', or Hydrangea Oak Leaf 'Pee Wee'. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what might work well for me besides Hydrangeas? I considered azaleas, but the Encore Azalea Company said that Azaleas need at approximately 4-6 hours of sun to produce nice looking blooms.
