How much shade? Both vines need some sun in order to bloom.

Have you considered a vine with bright foliage? Golden hop vine or variegated euonymous would do well with minimal sun.

the area gets about 1 hour of direct sunlight.

I can't see any problem with either. In Michigan the honeysuckle vine grows alone fences under trees in Michigan as well as down here in Texas. Trumpet Vine is too invasive in Texas, they grow up the tree trunks and through the branches until they over take the tree and kill it many times. It could be because of the warm weather we have here but they do well this far south and I have had to kill a trumpet Vine as it was taking over our garage and the root was as long as the garage and 4" across.
