What type of bush ...

What type of bush that has thorns will grow well in the partial to full shade.I have been burgalized from the rear of my garage and want something that will grow well in the shade.Will consider non thorny plants ,but must grow wide

You didn't indicate your zone, so not sure what would be hardy in your location, but Barberry is a nasty one for most locations, and trifoliate orange ( Poncirus )is hardy to zone 5 at least, though it prefers a bit more sun. Holly has nasty leaf thorns. As stated above hawthorn is a nasty too.

Rambling roses and they grow faster than shrubs.
