Acid loving shade plant ideas needed

Posted by krazy_karma z8a WA (My Page) on

I have an area which is in almost total shade. I would like to put in some low maintenance plants which would do well with the surrounding pine & cedar trees. I have a Japanese maple in a pot in the area, and it seems to be doing ok. Do Japanese maples like acidic soil?

I'd like to have some plants that will grow tall as well. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Mountain laurel and rhododendron are a couple of shrub ideas.

I have a gardenia, a couple of toad lilies and an indigo all of which are doing very well in near total shade.
