You do not need flowers

Many times people ask what flowers can they grow in shade. They want color in their shade garden. You can have color in shade without flowers by using foliage, and it is better than flowers because flowers are fleeting but colorful foliage is constant.

When I plan my shade garden I purchased

- Hostas with bright yellow color and the blue hostas

- Brunnera the white/silver leaves glow in the shade garden

- Huerc Palace purple is a common Coral Bell but it gives a lot of color and easy to grow.

- Ferns have color...Brilliant with its beautiful orange fronds, Japanese paintd fern has beautiful purple silver markings.

So I would like to suggest when you are planning your shade garden step back from concentrating on flowers and look for pretty leaves.

This is a pic I found on the net that shows how beautiful a group of leaves can look.
