I cut some japanese anemone for my house and they wilted almost immediately, even after I split the woody stem. Has this been the experience with everyone else? They are so pretty and I really hope I can cut them for the house.

I really don't know, but I bet someone at The Cutting Garden forum would. I would try posting this message there as well.

The way to keep japanese Aenemone flowers from wilting in bouquets is to cauterize the end imediately after cutting. I stick them in the flame of my gas stove.

You can also dip the stems in boiling water for 30 seconds and then put them in room temperature water to eliminate the wilting.
