HI All-

I will be purchasing a dwarf peach and dwarf cherry for my backyard this year. I have not decided if they will go in containers or in the ground.

Originally I was choosing between the Miller x-tra dwarfed bing cherry(self-pollinating gd 503) and Garden Gold Dwarf Peach Gd 507) and the Stark Bros. mini Sensation peach (4499)and Dwarf North star pie cherry (12744). I was also considering a dwarf saturn beach (the ones that look like hockey pucks) simply because the shape of the fruit seemed so cool.

My gardening colleague says to purchase from Hone depot and/or lowes because you have a higher chance of getting fruit soon, but I have never seen any dwarf cherry or peach trees at either place

I woould appreciate any observation, suggestion and/or comments on the following questions:

Is it better to purchase from mail order or garden shop?

What has been your experience with the dwarf varities in question? (How long was it before you got fruit?)

What has been your experience with self pollinating trees?

Are there other dwarf varities that should be considered?
