My wife wants to grow some pumpkins for halloween. All we have in my neck of the woods is hard red clay. My question is has anyone grown pumpkins in a container or raised bed ? If so how deep did it have to be, how much spacing did they require ? I realize this info is probably elsewhere on the internet but I always appreciate the voice of experience !
Thanks in advance y'all !

RE: pumpkins

I've grown pumpkins in clay soil by digging a hole about 9" across and 9" deep and filling it with potting soil. It seem to work fine. I planted three of them each about 2' apart.
