watermelons and pumpkins

Hi. My husband surprised me with an Orange Smoothie pumpkin plant today. My question is, would it be pushing it to plant this with my watermelon plant in the same half barrel? My watermelon is a Sugar Baby. Or would that just be way too crowded? My husband would strangle me if I need another half barrel (even if it is his fault :D) and it's getting kind of crowded in my little courtyard as it is. But if it just wouldn't work, I'll find a way to fit another one in somehow.

Well, it might work. You would have to be absolutely religious about water and fertilizer. Almost like hydroponics.

I'd go with the 2nd 1/2 barrel, if I were you.
