This must be a new forum as I've been away from Gardenweb for a while and don't remember ever seeing it before.

Although I live in the city, my partner and I were fortunate enough to find a house with a relatively large yard. The entire property is only 20' wide but quite deep. It's on a fairly steep terraced hillside, so that has added to the challenge. (The horrendous clay soil, full of rocks, broken bricks, construction rubble, rusty nails, and broken glass, is another thing entirely.) In 5 years I've made a bit of progress! Here's a shot of my back yard from one of our upstairs windows:
