 o
Footpath for Chicago garden

My building has a small garden space, about 10x10' along a wrought iron fence that leads to the side yard. We recently weeded this space and tilled it to re-do the garden (no one had touched it in 10 years). We also installed a gate in the fence so that you can go from front to side yard without having to go around the whole building. My question is about putting a path to the gate. It's on a slight incline - the side yard is about 2 feet higher than the front yard. We were thinking about putting stepping stones in but we're worried that the incline will look weird or cause some erosion problems. We're a self-managed building so we're looking for easy and cheap in addition to nice looking. Any advice? Thanks!
