Climbing roses

Try as I may, my climbing roses continue to disappoint me. The rose people say minimal pruning, but then they flop all over everything and try to take over the world.

Prune and tie back to constrain them, and they don't bloom well since they mostly bloom on old wood.

Any guidance?

RE: Climbing roses

I'm just getting into roses, so I can't help you, but I suggest you try posting this question to the rose forum. The people there have been very helpful for me and LOVE to talk roses.
