sketching and painting herbs, etc.

Has anyone run across a book with realistically sketched herbs and plants? I finally am almost retired and would like to begin watercolor painting. I hope I might get some instruction re: the form and structure of the herbs I cannot grow in my yard.

You might find a lot of sites using Google, and " Botanical drawing Books ", or something similar. I found this book while doing that. If you click on " look inside another edition of this book" , you are able to view many pages.
You may want to ask your local library to find any botanical drawing books through the interlibrary loan.
That way you won't invest in something unless it's exactly what you want.

Here is a link that might be useful: Botanical illustrations

Carol,
Thanks for your entry. I had forgotten about Amazon, although we had ordered a few books on ponds from them earlier.
Do you do watercolors or something similar? I am really loking forward to this.
Again, thanks, Lina.

Hi Lina,

You may want to go to your local library first.
Look up Redoute. He is the botannical equivalent of Audubon. Very nice work and good design. That is just for reference.

You may want to check out several how to books on watercolor. The neat thing about watercolor is that you can go slowly in layers.
