I took care of an elderly lady back in 1990 and she gave me some seed she had collected in China.I thought I had lost it but found it today.I was wondering how to tell the difference from common poppy seed and the opium seed that I just might have.

Opium poppy seeds are usually bluish or white, other poppy seeds are usually dark brown or black. Compare with poppy bread seeds, they are the same species (Papaver somniferum).
