Seed Starting Containers

Posted by paulsm z5 (My Page) on

I have seeds that are sprouting now and I need to put them in small plastic or cardboard individual containers until they are developed enough to take outdoors. Makes no difference if they are reusable or not.

I initially just planted them in low plastic large lids.

Looking for a source for these types of containers.

Thanks

I'm not sure you'll like this idea but I just love it.
I reuse toilet paper rolls cut them in half fill with soil, place in big round terecota saucers (mine hold about 15 halves and are very easy to keep watered. When they are ready to plant I put the whole thing in the ground and it also helps to keep cut worms from getting to tender plants. I don't like to spend too much if I don't have to.

It works great and saves me money

Great Idea Carmen! I will try the toilet paper rolls in saucers this Spring. I have been making newspaper pots to help recycle. They breakdown well but the cutworms have been getting to the seedlings. I have collected tp rolls for the past 4 years. Now I know what to do with them.: ) Do you close up the bottoms? I have included a link for directions for folding newspaper pots.
Save the Planet everyone,
Jeny
