What are some sources for low cost fruit trees? I am putting in approximately 100 fruit trees.

What do you consider low cost and what size are you looking for?

You might want to look at Miller Nurseries. It appears most of their 3-4' trees are around $20 and they are in NY, which would save on shipping for you.

This is the answer I received from NYFarmer, in case anyone knows where to find them.

Less than $3.00 per tree. 3/8-1/2 trees

It may be difficult to find trees in this price range, but you might try this link, as they have wholesale pricing.

Your counties soil conservation/extention office. $1 trees usually, many native fruits are offered, special orders are available for apples etc. usually half of the catalog prices (they sell them to you at wholesale cost) BUT it is likely to be too late to order this year... you may be able to prepay for some of the overage that they will have to sell off after they are done with their custome planting if there is anything that you can use this year. This fall, Oct.-Nov. is not too early to make your order for spring 2006. They have equiptment and crew to plant for you at a rock bottom price if you dont feel like facing the task by hand, etc.etc. That is what they are there for - ask your local office what they offer and do ask them to get special varieties for you if you have something in mind. Price them before shopping around - they may be able to take care of everything.

Enjoy your orchard !
