I took a picture of this in someone's garden I was visiting, and they didnt know what it was. it was growing in a partially shaded area. the bulk of the plant was a 4" high or so mound. The flower stems stuck up above the plant about 7 inches. Any ideas?

Might this be it? I think you are looking at the herbaceous potentilla.
