Willhite catalog

I just want to say how disappointed I was in the new Willhite catalog. I have used this company for years as they have a good selection of seeds, generous packs, and good prices. This year they jumped their prices out of this world. To cover this up they have included postage in their prices, yet still have added back in a handling charge to recoup some of this cost. To show what they have done, they have taken a $.95 1/2 ounce bag of watermelon seed, reduced it to 1/4 ounce and now charge $1.30. Figure it out: last year $.95 for 1/2 ounce has turned into $2.60 for the same amount! This is only one example of many. Another good comapny bites the dust. If any of you do not mind buying in bulk amounts, get a catalog from Jordan seed company. I can get four ounces of watermelon seeds for as low as what you would pay for a 1/2 ounce at Willhite for example. Even if you cannot use all of those seeds, give some away. It will still cost you less money.

I have noticed that a lot of the seed companies have raised their prices. I do not know if they are trying to cash in on a growing garden market or what. One catalog had organic seed potatoes for $10.50 a pound. I ordered mine last week from MilkRanch for $1.50 to $2.50 a pound and they will hold them until I want them shipped. It pays to shop around. Besides that it is fun to look through all of the catalogs.
