Save Florida's native Bromeliads

Several species of Florida's native bromeliads are under attack by an invasive weevil called "Metamasius callizona" or as some call it "Evil Weevil". It is thought to have entered Florida from Mexico in the mid 80"s.
Of Florida's 16 species, 13 are not found anywhere else in the US, and one (Tillandsia simulata) is only found in Florida. The Florida Council of Bromeliad Societies, along with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and the Division of Plant Industry's are working together to manage the weevil threat through biological control.
I have put together some information on my website below, but the full story can only be found at the University of Florida's website at: http://savebromeliads.ifas.ufl.edu/
It's worth a click..........
