Have you checked out the rose forums here on GardenWeb? There is a FAQ forum for the roses as well.
There are many experts who can offer excellent advice. Otherwise, check out your Clemson Extension office for some info. Good luck with your roses!

Tom, yes, the rose forum here on GardenWeb is the best. I spend a lot of time there as I have 40+ rose bushes (and just ordered more!).

Looks like the first thing you will want to do is try to identify what kind of roses they are. If they don't have tags, you will have to guess.

Next will be to get some pruning supplies, pruners (I recommend Felco as the best), a loper (for canes that are too large for pruners) and a pruning saw. And a pair of heavy leather gloves.

Try to find a book on roses, the Ortho book is a good start, you should be able to find it in Home Depot. It will illustrate how to prune, and this is the perfect time to read up and start in the next couple of weeks.

Don't worry, you really can't ruin roses, they love to be pruned and will respond by being bushier and healthier for it.

You can call any of the consulting rosarians and they will be glad to help you with info or guidance. Laura Oliver is the closest one to you. You can call her at 798-7793.
