Laura Bush petunias

Hello everyone! The Laura Bush petunias I planted last August stayed green all winter and have been blooming again for the last month after taking a couple of months off. I love them! However, I'm wondering how they will make it through the heat and humidity of a full summer after a spring planting. Some folks in the hottest parts of Texas said theirs struggled in the summer unless in shade. Just along the coast where I live we are truly borderline zone 8/9.

What has everyone else's experience been? Will the plants survive even if they don't bloom? Would a midsummer haircut perk them up? I'm planting a jillion of them in a public park and don't want to have to do a midseason replanting although I can prepare for that if it will be necessary.

Thanks!
