I've heard about using bone meal, corn meal and epson salt around plants and vegetables but not sure what sequence or measurements to use. Does anyone know anything about it or web site that can help? Thanks for your time and have a nice day.

Bone meal provides phosphorous (in your 3-number sequence, the middle number). Blood meal provides the first number, nitrogen and Epsom salts is magnesium and do not apply unless you know you need it. It would be best to have your soil analyzed before making that decision. I find alfalfa meal and cottonseed meal a good alternative to anything else, just as a practical, all-around treatment for my plants. I do add bone meal to bulbs, etc. When planting roses, I use triple-superphosphate which gives me a big bone meal bang.

Search soil amendments and fertilizer. Check out the Organic forum. Try Bulbtone or Plantone fertilizer- organic, but pre-packaged. Bulbtone has more phosphorus- good for roots and flowers. Nitrogen aids green leafy growth. Corn meal is supposed to help feed the good bacteria in the soil and adds slow release nitrogen. There's several threads on this in the organic forum.

epsum salts will help cause branching (according to our local ag. agent) I use it on my roses in spring and it helps keep my Gardenias green, I give them 1 tblsp per foot of height each spring.
