screen shrubs for wet site

Posted by kat_nc 7 (My Page) on

I need to screen my neighbors ugly fence and ratty above-ground swimming pool. The site does not drain quickly but gets full sun. I would like an evergreen, 10-15ft. or taller, 5-10ft wide. Fast to moderate growth. Any suggestions? I wanted Carolina Cherry Laurel but read it does not like overly moist sites.

Here are a few choices
Clethra alnifolia small shrub 3 to 6 feet high white flowers in July or August, and yellow fall foliage.
Inkberry (glabra) small evergreen leaves, and black fruit It does not tolerate drought well
Winterberry (verticillata) deciduous shrub has bright red fruit in fall.
Smooth Winterberry (laevigata)
Picea glauca
White Spruce
