Hi folks. I am considering taking a position in this area. Everything seems great, the job is good, the compensation in the ballpark. I visited there recently and noted that the food prices were about the same as I see here, fuel a little lower, income taxes higher, the climate is perfect.

My big concern is housing. Holy cow. Looking at listings I see nothing under 125k that is not a trailer on a fraction of an acre. Now, I get that it is tourist / college area so you get a lot of the big houses on small lots from that type, but I just want a smaller house on at least an acre and it looks like they don't even exist. Or maybe it is just that those are not the ones that the realtors are pushing? (one can hope)

Does anybody on these boards have any insight that might help me out?
