On five acres we have quite a bit of diversity from the
pure white sugar sand, some clay, then the ever famous
grey sand.
I'm not trying to cover the entire five acres will turf
just around the house. Is there a turf seed mixture of
several different grasses that could be tried. Always
trying to improve the dirt.
Thanks! |

| I live in the South Carolina sand hills (midlands of SC). We tried several different grasses in our sandy, sandy soil and had the most success with centipede. (The rule is 1st year sleeps, 2nd year creeps, 3rd year leaps! ;-D) We seeded the front yard only, and after 7 years have a lush lawn all the way around the house, including most of the back yard, without fertilizing. Just don't over-mow it and DO let it go to seed from time to time. I hear some folks hate it because it spreads by runners, but for us that was one of the good things about it! |
