moving rebelious seedlings

Here's the deal - I planted cosmos and zinnia seeds in the perfect spot- but along came a little rain and now they are coming up at the edge and in the ditch of my garden. They are about 2 inches or so and have their first true leaves. Can I scoop them up gently and put them where I wanted them in the first place? Assuming I water them and shade them for a few days to help their move?
