Saving Tulip Bulbs

Posted by razl62 Georgia (My Page) on

My small bed of tulips finally died out and I dug them all up to make room for a summer "color" bed. I understand you can "save" tulip bulbs for next year? We have lots of "squirrel" thieves and I know if I leave them in the ground (even if I replant them in another location, they won't be there in the fall. Can anyone give advice on how to store these? I'm in the south so it's warm here, but I have a basement and a room that is always dark, so I can store them there, but need to know what / how to store them. Appreciate any thoughts and suggestions. Thanks.

RE: Saving Tulip Bulbs

In addition to storing them properly, make sure they get some "chill time".

Here is a link that might be useful: Google search on storing bulbs
