Zinnia pruning

I made the mistake of moving my Zinnias from one pot to another and they looked sad. But now they're growing but so tall and leggy. Can they be pruned? or should I just get something else. I'll tell you, between the ones in the ground and in the pot, they like it better in the ground, they dry out tooo fast in a pot. Not really my favorite anyway, these were a gift from someone so....

Look on the stem. You can probably see a leaf that has a little sprout at the base. That's a good place to clip.
