lobloly pines
I have recently moved to a house with a sloping, shady backyard...the problem is that I need a fast growing, layered screen at the bottom for privacy AND traffic noise. I already have wax myrtles planted close to the fence that are doing well, and I thought I would plant magnolia's in front of the wax. Never thought I would plant a pine tree on purpose but I am seriously thinkink about planting some lobloly pines at the very bottom. They grow fast, won't be close to the house, add a different type of texture...any comments? Oh, and I have a mature hemlock that I love (I swear it looks like Canadian, but must be Carolina) that is VERY dense...thought I might blend another one of those in (and wear metal armour when I handle them!)
Any suggestions? The yard is deep so I have room to "plant from bottom upwards 25-30 yards....Thanks!
