Firebush in Lowcountry SC?

Posted by bciocco 8 (My Page) on

My wife and I saw some great firebush plants when we were in FL. We live in Mount Pleasant, SC and would like to use them as a hedge.
Does anyone on the board have experience with how they will grow in the Charleston, SC area?

Thanks,
Bill

I expect that they would die back to the ground in your location, sprouting again in the spring. So, perhaps not the best choice for a hedge, but a nice accent plant for certain.

I'm just a year late answering this question but just in case someone stumbles on this question...yes, they do die to the ground here but come back reliably. I'm in Mt. Pleasant as well.
