I have never tried to root lantana. Most everything I have rooted with the exception of gardenia which is kind of fleshy compared to lantana does curl up somewhat. Sometimes it takes sometimes not. It's a gamble from there!

How is your rooting lantana coming along? I am trying to start some from seed and it is not going well at all.

They should not DRY up but will wilt badly. This method always works for me. Go down the stem until you find a 2 inch side stem sprouting out from between the main stem and a leaf at a node. With a very sharp knife, cut under the leaf node and get part of the main stem and node. Place it in wet sand and put it in light shade. You can put the bottom of the pot in a pan with a LITTLE water to keep the sand wet. Do not allow it to completely dry out. The leaves will eventually die but you should see new green leaves sprouting before the old ones completely die. The stems will root in just about 3 weeks. Let me know the results.

I used rooting hormone, and a light, sandy
rooting medium and kept them moist, in shade.
I wasn't particular about where along the stem
I took the cuttings, but it was in mid-June on
the new growth.

I HAVE HAD GOOD SUCCESS ROOTING LANTANA SHRUB. I USE A SODA POP BOTTLE--CLEAR. FILL WITH RAIN WATER. DO NOT USE TAP WATER SINCE HAS CLORINE. CUT A 10 INCH MEDIUM HARD STEM AT A 45% ANGLE JUST BELOW A LEAF BUD. STRIP ALL LEAVES BELOW THE 3RD OF 4TH SET.
DIP THE TIP OF THE STEM IN WATER AND THEN IN HARMONE. EASE THE STEM INTO THE WATER TO AVOID WASHING IT OFF. I GET ROOTS IN ABOUT 10 TO 15 DAYS. KEEP THE BOTTLE IN INDIRECT SUL LIGHT AT NORMAL SUMMER TEMPS. WHEN YOU HAVE A MASS OF ROOTS ABOUT 4-5 INCHES TRANSPLANT INTO A PEAT CUP AND WINTER OVER UNTIL NEXT SPRING. THESE CAN BE KEPT IN YOUR HOME NEAR A WINDOW. I GET 80 TO 90% LIVE EVEN AFTER PLANTING. GOOG LUCK
