I am looking to grow and trim formal hedges in NC and, through my research, have determined that the Taxus x media 'Hicksii' meets all my requirements (which is based on growing a hedge that resembles those in the UK). I have found the shrub at some local nurseries but one mentioned that the shrub cannot grow in the sun . . . huh? Every botanical site I read says the shrub does fine in sun or partial shade . . . can anyone shed some light on this (pun intended)? I plan to grow the hedge line in the sun . . .
