yellow leaves on my cala lily

i recently planted my first purple cala lily. i have been watering and applying mircle grow religously. however, the leaves have been turning yellow and when i pulled them out the bottoms of the root smell of rot. please advise i don't want to loose this prize asset to my garden!

Probably too much water and fertilizer. Did you plant it as a bulb or was it purchased already potted and sprouted?
Wonder if lifting it.cutting off the rotted part and repotting in good new potting soil would help it recover.

i bought it as a plant with blooms. thanks for your help. i will try your recommendations. i believe you are right with the over watering and fertilizing.
