Shrimp plants run in blooming cycles like angel trumpets and night blooming jasmine. Check the stands of shrimp plants in your area. Those, like mine, are pausing between heavy blooming periods. They will bloom less profusely in shade, but you won't be disapointed.

I have red shrimps that have been here for decades. They really became an invasive plant for me and I spent two years digging them up from an acre yard . Whew !
Now they are just a small hedge that I keep short ( 3 feet tall ) and under control . The blooms are still there but not unless it is very , very sunny and we get plenty of rain . They need full blasting sun to bloom . Red shrimps are cold hardy but can get quite leggy . I have cut mine down to the ground and the plants rebounded beautifully .
Yellow shrimp -- now that's completely different !

Jane, I have red shrimps in morning/early afternoon sun. I try to keep them limited to a small area, but they seem to have a mind of their own. You're welcome to some of mine if you'd like. I live in south BR near LSU.
