I'm not sure if you've done this already or not but you might want to post your question on the Oklahoma gardening forum as well -- it might get you more responses from gardeners in your specific area. I live in Zone 8 so I won't bother telling you which of our herbs are perennials here except I will mention that Basil is definitely an annual here and, since I'm much further south than you, would likely be an annual there as well.

Basil is an annual no matter where you grow it. You can keep it growing longer if you are absolutely fastidious about removing the flower heads. Once they go to seed, it's almost impossible to keep them producing tasty leaves. Do you know how large this plant is probably going to be??? What variety is it?

All of the others are perennial plants and will either stay evergreen in your area or will come back in the spring. Thyme is a great landscaping plant in many parts of the country.

Generally, herbs do much better in the full sun and open air. Few homes have the light to support healthy growth of these great plants.

I've kept chives in a pot for about 15 years without giving it any care, so the chives will keep.

My sister kept a thyme garden I gave her in the pot overwinter outside for about 2 years, then it expired.

Not sure about the oregano for potted outside...but its pretty hardy stuff.

Sage is pretty finicky, expect it to die. The basil is annual.

All of them are more likely to make it if planted in the ground. Depending on the size of your container, you will need to wrap it to keep it from freezing out if you leave the herbs in the container over the winter outside.

Thanks everyone for your helpful suggestions. How do I wrap the pots? The herbs are all in plastic windowbox containers.
