Grass For Shady Lawn

Posted by kemojr 7 (My Page) on

I have a shady lawn. I use liriope and english ivy for ground cover but I have a couple of spots that get some full sun everyday for 3-5 hours. What kind of grass will work best for these somewhat sunny areas? I am in zone 7.

some fescues tolerate shade pretty well. check with your local nursery for best recommendations for your area.

Obtaining local recommendations is very important. I'd probably not go to a nursery, but your local extension office. Nurseries and garden centers vary hugely in their expertise.

I've read that St. Augustine, especially Palmetto and DelMar varieties, might work in those conditions.
