Agreed, it is considered invasive by many gardeners.

I planted 3 last year and after reading the horror stories about this plants invasivness I've started to kill it off.
I hope it's not to late

In answer to your question, I saw it in the Wayside Garden Catalog. We have it planted between the garage and the sidewalk, so it can't get where we don't want it to go. Pretty and requires no care. But I sure wouldn't want it in my flower gardens. Bad news there.

The variegated is pretty and much less invasive than the solid green type (which I removed from my garden even tho' it had belonged to my greatgrandma.)
I cornered the variegated off by itself between the front porch and the lawn and it behaved itself nicely and truthfully, nothing else would grow in that spot anyway.

I had to look this up, because we've always called it gout weed, and I didn't know what Bishop's weed was. Invasive isn't the word for it! If you leave even one small part of a rhizome, it will come back and spread so fast, you have to start eradicating it again.

I have the variegated type, for postage you can have as much as you want, but as mentioned "be careful what you wish for"! I was fortunate enough to have planted it as a groundcover under my camelia and Acuba where it was contained by the house and a walkway of cobblestones. It pops up in the cracks of the walkway and is a very vigorous spreader. I have found that weed-b-gone will kill the runners without killing the desired portion of the plant. It really is pretty and the leaves change color in the fall and it sends up wispy white flower heads in mid to late summer.
