Ceanothus: I'm in Arkansas, zone 7. I've seen pictures of blue ceanothus and would like to grow some, but can it be grown in the South?

You can try looking for Ceanothus 'Henri Defosse' which is a cross between the native Ceanothus americana and the mexican one. Another cultivar is 'Gloire de Versailles'.

I've done a fair amount of research on it. Everything I have read says it does not like our humid summers. It grows extremely well in California. Similar winters, but entirely different summers. Such a shame. It's beautiful.
