there are quite a few online resources for this now.
rather than trying to establish another website, why not contact one or more of these organizations about it?
many communities down here have begun collecting locally to transport via large transfer trucks to the disaster areas. they may establish areas of drop-off at local churches and travel once per week with the goods.
our office recently had an in-house fundraiser to replenish the local foodbank after they sent most of their stock to the areas of devastation - it was a dessert break and the admission was two non-perishable items. little things like this can add up if enough people get involved.
your cash/time/item donations to these service organizations will be the most effective means of helping, in my opinion. you can check to see if any of your local chapters are already working toward this goal. i'll bet they are!
