Re-blooming azaleas , are they as good as they sound ?

I'm getting ready to do an overhaul of my front of house landscape . The previous owner had a lot of "shaped " shrubs , like one long rectangle of some shrub , and a uniform row of meatballs , followed by a giant what could have been beautiful Japanese maple , in a giant ball form . I am removing them and looking for replacement shrubs with shape and bloom power .
What do you think of these ? Any good variety in particular ?
I am also considering some wiegla , limelight hydrangea and vanilla strawberry hydrangea if I can find it .

How long have you been in that house, lilyfinch? Are any of the meatball shrubs foundation plantings?
If so, replacing them with deciduous probably isn't what you want for that area.
Have you lived there long enough through the seasons to know sunpaths, prevailing wind/air circulation, drainage of rain and moisture absorption?
Got deer? They love hydrangea.
Is that really a Japanese maple? Takes a long time for these slow-growers to recover from being shape-sheared in preparation to sell a house. If it's a JM, you might ask a professional arborist if it is moveable this fall.

Here in N. Alabama (Huntsville) the Encore Azaleas are just spectacular this fall. They need full sun, unlike regular azaleas. I only have one, but its doing great, and I would recommend them for sure.
