Pruning during drought?

Some of my anise bushes and azaleas suffered major damage during the drought -- in fact, I thought several were totally dead -- but they are showing signs of new green growth near the bottoms. Should I prune off the branches that look dead (brown leaves, etc.), or just leave the plant alone and keep praying for rain?
